NOTIFICATION 

WHEREAS on considering the recommendations of the expert team of Doctors and Public Health Specialists and based on the directives of Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, State-wide lockdown was extended from time to time and lastly extended till 24:00 hrs of 31.3.2021 under the Disaster Management Act, 2005 in GO.Ms.No.318, Revenue and Disaster Management (DM-IV) Department, dated 28.2.2021. 

2. In G.O.(Ms). No.30, Revenue and Disaster Management (DM IV). Department, Dated 13.01.2021, Schools were permitted to function for 10th and 12th Standards from 19.1.2021. Further in G.O.(Ms). No 84, Revenue and Disaster Management (DM IV), Department, Dated 31.1.2021 among other things, Schools were also permitted to function for gth and 11th Standards from 8.2.2021 and Hostels for the above students were also permitted. 

3. The Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine has stated that, in the light of increasing trend of COVID cases, from a Public Health point of view it would not be advisable to continue the classes at least for the 9th, 10th and 11th Standard students. The Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine has however stated that as far as Class XII is concerned, they may be permitted to function as the number of students will be lesser and as they also have to face the Board Examination by strict follow-up of all Provision of SOP's. 

4. Now, therefore, the Government of Tamil Nadu hereby order that Schools shall be closed for classes 9th, 10th and 11th with effect from 22.03.2021 until further orders. However online/digital mode of educationshall continue for classes 9th), 10th and 11th. Further Hostels for the above students shall also be closed. In addition, the following shall also be allowed: Conduct of Board Examination for Class 10 for Boards other than Tamil Nadu State Board as scheduled by those Boards and Conduct of Special Classes to students who are appearing for the above Board Examination for Class 10 and functioning of Hostels for those students and to issue the following amendment: 

In G.O.(Ms).No.318, Revenue and Disaster Management (DM IV) Department, Dated : 28.02.2021, the following section (ii) shall be added under Caption I (Prohibited Activity) 

(ii) Schools shall be closed for classes 9th, 10th and 11th with effect from 22.03.2021 until further orders. Further Hostels for the above students shall also be closed. However online/digital mode of education shall continue for classes 9th, 10th and 11th. 

In addition, the following shall also be allowed: Conduct of Board Examination for Class 10 for Boards other than Tamil Nadu State Board as scheduled by those Boards and Conduct of Special Classes to students who are appearing for the above Board Examination for Class 10 and functioning of Hostels for those students.
