The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act 2009,
establishes the formation of School Management Committees (SMCs) in
all Government schools for the purpose of the overall development and
monitoring of school and child education. As part of this, the School
Management Committee is formed in all Government schools to oversee
and facilitate the improvement of school development. The reconstitution
of SMC was conducted in April and July in 2022.
After the reconstitution
of the School Management Committee in April 2022 and the initiation of
Parent App in September 2022, there has been a steady flow of
resolutions into the App, in our recent analysis of the data it is evident
nearly 61% of the needs recorded by the schools are infrastructural and
has been received from the field in concurrence with the local
stakeholders who are mostly parents and other School Management
Committee members.
There are various Government schemes under which construction of new
buildings, maintenance and repair and demolishing of buildings are
carried out, however being the first state to have digitalised most of our
data's pertaining to education, we are at a juncture to enhance our existing
system of gathering the requirement on infrastructure in a much legitimate
way by involving the School Management Committee which could be one
of the most important and reliable source, and also when these
requirement are recorded in the App there is absolute scope for
transparency and due validation of the needs can be put in place by the
district administration. This will bring together the school and community
making the school accountable to the community and in turn community
